NOMV Annual Gala Awards

The NOMV Annual Gala Awards is an award ceremony recognizing the contributions of our incredible team of supporters! Anyone is eligible to submit a nomination (including self-nominations) except for members of the Annual Award Review Committee.

NOMV is thrilled to announce our 3rd Annual Gala! Join us for this exciting ceremony on October 7th, 2023, in Boston, Massachusetts. We will celebrate our volunteers, leaders, chapters, and programs!

The highlight of the evening will be a presentation by keynote speaker Dr. Temple Grandin!

Thank you for joining us in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or virtually via Zoom, for our second Annual Gala Awards ceremony! It was an evening filled with camaraderie and fun, thanks to our wonderful sponsor, AmeriVet

The night included an incredible keynote presentation about veterinary wellbeing by Dr. Joseph Hahn from the Merck Wellbeing Study, an introduction to the Ontario film crew producing a NOMV PSA, and an award ceremony highlighting the incredible accomplishments of the organization and our supporters.

Awards

Rising Volunteer of the Year

Description: The Rising Volunteer of the Year recognizes a new NOMV volunteer that exhibits initiative and strong potential to contribute to the quality of the organization’s future.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a NOMV volunteer that is not a NOMV Student Ambassador. The volunteer must have started their volunteerism with NOMV prior to January 2022, but after January 2020.

Established Volunteer of the Year

Description: The Established Volunteer of the Year recognizes a NOMV volunteer that demonstrates a positive impact on the NOMV community and a commitment to developing a sustainable organization that cultivates leadership among fellow volunteers.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must not be a Committee Chair or NOMV Board Member and must have started volunteering with NOMV prior to January 2020.

Student Ambassador of the Year

Description: The Student Ambassador of the Year recognizes a NOMV student representative with strong potential to contribute to the quality of the organization’s future in addition to the impact they demonstrate locally on their campus.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a current NOMV Student Ambassador. The volunteer must also be actively enrolled in a veterinary or veterinary technician program and serve on the NOMV Student Support & Mentorship Committee prior to January 2022.

Committee Chair of the Year

Description: The Committee Chair of the Year recognizes a NOMV Committee Chair or Co-Chair that provides exemplary commitment and extraordinary leadership to their team. The Chair makes a meaningful contribution to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and demonstrates transformational leadership.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a current NOMV Committee Chair and served at least since January 2022.

Board Member of the Year

Description: The Board Member of the Year recognizes a NOMV Board Member that provides exemplary commitment and extraordinary leadership to the entire organization. The Board Member makes a meaningful contribution to the organization’s mission, vision, values, and demonstrates transformational leadership.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a current NOMV Board Member and have served at least since January 2022.

Committee of the Year

Description: The Committee of the Year recognizes the collective efforts of an entire NOMV Committee during the 2022 calendar year. The Committee must demonstrate impact towards the organization's mission and vision.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a NOMV Committee established prior to January 2022.

Chapter of the Year

Description: The Chapter of the Year recognizes the collective efforts of an entire NOMV Chapter during the 2022 calendar year. The Chapter must demonstrate impact towards the organization's mission and vision.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be an officially registered NOMV Chapter established prior to January 1, 2022.

Event of the Year

Description: The Event of the Year recognizes an event put on by one or more NOMV committees. The event is considered prominent and demonstrates significant impact in furthering the mission and vision of NOMV.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be an event that took place between January 2022 and today on behalf of NOMV. The goal of the event must satisfy at least one of the following criteria: raising awareness about NOMV’s mission, raising funds for the organization, and/or providing outreach to local veterinary clinic(s). The event must not be considered a speaking event.

Chapter Event of the Year

Description: The Chapter Event of the Year recognizes an event put on by one or more NOMV chapters. The event is considered prominent and demonstrates significant impact in furthering the mission and vision of NOMV.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be an event hosted by at least one officially registered NOMV Chapter that took place between January 2022 and today on behalf of NOMV. The goal of the event must satisfy at least one of the following criteria: raising awareness about NOMV’s mission, raising funds for the organization, and/or providing outreach to local veterinary clinic(s). 

Presentation of the Year

Description: The Presentation of the Year recognizes the intellectual efforts responsible for creating and presenting a speech on a topic relevant to the NOMV mission. The presentation should be supported by research and include either implementation strategies or best practices to transform the veterinary industry in alignment with NOMV’s mission.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a presentation provided to the veterinary community between January 2022 and today on a topic relevant to NOMV’s mission. The presentation should clearly demonstrate current knowledge on the topic chosen with 90% of the resources being from the past 7 years and at least 50% of the resources being from the past 5 years.

Outside Fundraiser of the Year

Description: The Outside Fundraiser of the Year recognizes an group or individual that creatively raised funds to donate to NOMV. The fundraiser should be invested in the mission of NOMV with a specific goal for their contribution.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must have contributed to NOMV financially during the 2022 calendar year (no minimum amount). The recipient must be willing to have their story shared publicly.

Partner of the Year

Description: The Partner of the Year recognizes an affiliate organization for their contributions to the organization and/or the field of veterinary medicine. The partner should demonstrate regular support of NOMV through in kind donations, social media shares, event partnerships, resources to NOMV members, and/or the like.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a formally recognized partner on the NOMV Partner website at the time of nomination.

Description: The Sponsor of the Year recognizes an organization that demonstrates financial investment in NOMV and exemplifies the NOMV mission in their business practices. In addition to financial support, the Sponsor of the Year recipient publicly promotes their investment in NOMV via their website, social media, and/or press releases and promotes team members volunteering their time or services to the organization.

Eligibility: The recipient for this award must be a formally recognized sponsor on the NOMV Sponsors website at the time of nomination.
