by Carrie Jurney DVM DACVIM (Neuro) ![]() As I rolled over totally motivated to start my weekend this morning, a tiny paw touched my cheek and a rumbling purr began. With that, I knew I wasn't getting out of bed for at least another 30 minutes. How many of you sleep with your pets in the bed? Okay, I'm totally preaching to the choir here, so I'm betting this is truly north of 90%. I can say honestly it's difficult for me to sleep well if I don't have at least one snuggly cat by my side. Which likely why I roll my eyes every time a read an article talking about the dangers of this behavior. Let's get real- if there is a zoonotic infection to be had, I've probably already been exposed, so I'll take my chances. So I guess my real question is not do you sleep with your pet's in the bed... but rather how many pet's sleep in your bed?
Our usual number is 2. Despite the photographic evidence, the Bengal is not usually a snuggler .

I love pets, but I never take them to the bed, since we can get infected with their bacteria. In fact, there are a lot of diseases we can get from our own pets.
