PetVet Care Centers and Gateway Services Inc Team up to Support Veterinary Mental Health

March 28, 2023

San Francisco, CA. Not One More Vet (NOMV) is proud to announce the generous support from PetVet Care Centers and Gateway Services.

NOMV is honored to receive generous financial contributions from PVCC and Gateway,” said Darlene Bos, executive director of NOMV. “The funds allow us to provide impactful programming that is transforming the status of wellness in the profession so veterinary professionals can survive and thrive.”

“Although we don’t dictate how vets practice medicine, we partner with organizations that hold the same core values and support a healthy life-work balance and well-being,” said Dr. Anthony Loomis, Chief Medical Officer at PetVet Care Centers.

NOMV envisions a veterinary profession that honors and elevates sustainable wellbeing. They offer eight robust programs to support over 26,000 veterinary professionals. These programs are grouped into three categories of support: Evidence-based Peer Support, Resources and Referrals, and Outreach and Awareness. As a non-profit, they are only able to bring these services to veterinary professionals thanks to the support of donors like PetVet Care Centers and Gateway.

“We are very proud of this partnership and are honored to be supporting such a valuable, much needed organization”, said Keith Ducharme, Regional Vice President Sales at Gateway Services.

NOMV was established in 2014 as a peer support group dedicated to helping address the alarming rates of suicide and mental health issues in the veterinary industry. In 2017, NOMV gained 501(c)3 status to provide support grants to individual veterinary professionals and students in crisis with the goal of easing financial stressors so recipients could focus on mental health and wellbeing. Today the organization continues to provide those services in addition to the anonymous, peer support offered through Lifeboat, healthy workplace certification through the CLEAR Blueprint program, local chapters, student mentorship, and a variety of educational, awareness, and outreach activities.
